  • Job Title: Front of House Staff (FOH)
    Reports to: Front of House Manager
    Supervises: N/A
    Status: Part-time, Non-exempt

    Schedule: Variable hours, generally evenings and weekends, able to work late nights (midnight or later) for certain events.

    Summary:

    The FOH Staff is responsible for providing a variety of guest services before, during, and after events. This position encompasses concession, bar and box office services, theater preparation, cleaning and customer service functions for live events, movies, and private events.  We’re looking for energetic, positive people who are able to easily move among multiple tasks and would enjoy working in a dynamic and growing performing arts organization.


    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Using established protocols, ensure the theater is clean, prepared (inside and out) and ready for events before they start, and that closing protocols are completed after events including sorting trash, compost and recycling.  
    • Provide excellent patron relations and respond to patron inquiries.
    • Conduct walk-up ticket sales on theater ticketing systems and check in ticketed patrons.
    • Conduct concession, merchandise, and bar sales if applicable.  Bar sellers must be TIPs certified and follow all bar procedures including checking IDs and avoiding over-serving patrons.  
    • Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately, maintaining confidentiality of credit card information.
    • Prepare and serve concession and bar items (popcorn, fountain drinks, beer, wine, etc.)
    • Proactively maintain theater cleanliness and appearance throughout the work shift
    • Be vigilant for and promptly report any malfunctions, safety concerns, or other building and equipment issues.
    • Maintain timely communications with management regarding schedule availability and conflicts.
    • Attend and participate in organization-wide and other meetings as requested.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications: (Experience, Skills, Education):

    • High school diploma or equivalent, or in the process as applicable
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal with a wide range of people and issues while maintaining composure
    • Demonstrated computer skills in email, Google apps, etc.
    • Other computer skills preferred (ticketing software, POS software, etc.)
    • TIPs certification or willingness to obtain certification
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Comfort with an environment that can be very fast-paced, or much less so
    • Interest in and experience with film and live music events is a plus
    • Willingness to acquire knowledge  of the organization’s history, fundraising efforts, and programming

    Physical Demands:

    • Required to stand for hours at a time 
    • Required to climb stairs frequently
    • Occasional moderate physical effort required (i.e. lifting boxes up to 50 lbs.)
