About Metropolis

The silent film screening of “Metropolis,” features an original score played live by the Alloy Orchestra. This 1927 film by Fritz Lang is considered a masterpiece and one of the first in the science-fiction genre. It is set in a  glamourous futuristic city which is built on top of a grim undercity of abused and exploited workers. The film stars silent film legends Brigette Helm, Rudolf Klein-Rogge and Gustav Fröhlich.

About Alloy Orchestra

Alloy began their career with a new score for METROPOLIS in 1991. The group has worked with 4 different versions of the film, including this newest “complete” version, released in 2010. Alloy was invited in that year to perform their newest reworking of their score, at the TCM Classic Film Festival’s American premiere of the new restoration. The packed house at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Los Angeles, gave the musicians an enthusiastic standing ovation – a response that has been repeated many times as the group has toured with the magnificent film.

Roaring 20s VIP Reception

The VIP reception starts in the Streetside Bar at 6PM with some speakeasy fun, cocktails and a flapper or two.

What’s included? A signature cocktail, appetizers, premium seating for the film screening and a roaring good time!

Guests are encouraged, but not required, to dress in 1920s attire in tribute to this golden age. (See links for style tips below.)

Roaring Twenties Style

It’s easy and fun to pull off a 1920s style. Women, think about a shift-style dress, long necklaces, dangly earrings, long gloves, fishnet stockings, headbands, fringed shawls, sequined anything. Take a look in your closet. Even a couple of these elements can create a fantastic look. Gentlemen might wear a suit, suspenders, bow ties, vests, pocket watch, hat and spats. Click here for inspiration.  If your closet comes up dry, head over to Amazon. For men’s grooming, think hair pomade and moustaches. Click here to see some looks.
