It’s Father’s Day and the US Open is being held in Brookline – sounds like an appropriate time to bring Caddyshack to the big screen at The Cabot!
Working-class teenager Danny Noonan (Michael O’Keefe) works as a caddie at the exclusive and snob-filled Bushwood Country Club to earn enough money to go to college, caddying and seeking life advice from Ty Webb (Chevy Chase), an avid golfer and the son of Bushwood’s co-founder. Danny decides to curry favor with the arrogant Judge Elihu Smails (Ted Knight), Bushwood’s other co-founder and the director of the country club’s caddy scholarship program, thinking it will be the only way he’ll be able to attend college. Smails is needled by Al Czervik (Rodney Dangerfield), a boisterous real estate developer who begins attending the country club and is very outspoken about the club and its members’ stuffy attitude. Meanwhile, mentally unstable groundskeeper Carl Spackler (Bill Murray) is dispatched by his supervisor to eliminate a gopher that has been causing chaos all around the course.
