Chin Friction, a favorite local rock band, will be performing a benefit concert for the Pete Frates #3 Fund for ALS. 100% of the proceeds from the ‘Raise A Glass’ event will benefit Pete Frates and his family. This event is sponsored by Sterling Insurance Agency, Inc.
Chin Friction is an eight-piece band, including a horn section that has been rocking the North Shore and the Boston area for over 30 years with catchy originals and favorite covers from artists such as Bruce Springsteen, U2 and the J Geils Band.
Chin Friction was formed in 1985 by Jim ‘Bone’ Parisella with Rick Mooney and Mark Tarricone. They started playing at local clubs in the North Shore and Boston including The Channel, Club 3, Grover’s and Blackburn Tavern. A favorite on college campuses, Chin Friction appeared with The Hooters and ‘Til Tuesday at Endicott College.
Over the past few years Chin Friction has performed at the Beverly Main Streets Block Party, The Wild Horse, Chianti’s Jazz Club and Sea Level in Salem, as well as at The Cabot in 2015.

About the Pete Frates #3 Fund to Support ALS Research
Peter Frates was diagnosed with ALS in 2012, soon after graduating from Boston College where he was the captain of the BC Eagles Baseball Team and a leader known throughout the BC community. He is known today to most of the world as co-founder of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, the viral social media phenomenon that led to more than $220 million in donations by tens of millions of people to ALS nonprofit organizations across the globe.
The Frates ALS Research and Support Fund and “Team Frate Train” support ALS research at the ALS Therapy Development Institute and other organizations. The Fund operates many fundraising events, including the Pete Frates 5K, Pints for Pete, and Plunge for Pete, as well as serves on the steering committee for the White Coat Affair gala. Pete and his family have appeared on countless television and radio programs, including the Charlie Rose Show, National Public Radio, ESPN, the MLB Network, among others.
